Robert A. Rhodes is a seasoned litigator who represents clients in premises liability, negligence, products liability, wrongful death, negligent security, and motor vehicle accident-related matters. He also represents clients in liquor liability litigation, a nuanced area of the law that frequently changes and requires an experienced litigator who understands how to approach it.

Unique to Bob’s legal practice is his focus on Native American Tribal Law and his longtime relationship with client, Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority – the entity that operates Connecticut’s premier casino and resort, Mohegan Sun.

Bob also has represented numerous municipalities in Connecticut in claims ranging from negligence to police misconduct and civil rights violations, and has represented various private businesses against claims made by current and former employees.

Having practiced for nearly 30 years, Bob represents a broad change of clients with cases of varying complexity before Connecticut Superior Court, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Connecticut Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Due to his expertise in Native American Tribal Law, he also regularly appears before the Mohegan Gaming Disputes Trial Court and the Mohegan Gaming Disputes Court of Appeals and is accustomed to the processes and procedures specific to them. Bob also has had a case before the United State Supreme Court.

Bob knows that no two clients or cases are the same and approaches each with a deep understanding of the law and strategies that provide optimal outcomes. There is no case checklist. Bob works with his clients to understand their business, goals, and risk tolerance, and then evaluates each case within those parameters.

Sensitive to his clients legal needs, Bob approaches his cases by determining the path to resolution with the greatest impact. Some cases may warrant an early settlement, while others may justify pursuing a defense verdict or alternative resolution mechanisms, such as mediation or arbitration. He also has established efficient reporting processes that keep his clients abreast of the latest developments with their cases. General counsel, claims adjusters, and risk managers appreciate his attention to detail and his ability to understand their needs. He adds value to his clients by providing counsel on ways to mitigate litigation in future.

Bob has been recognized for his legal skills and high ethical standards by Martindale-Hubbell with an AV Preeminent® Rating, the highest peer review rating in the legal industry. He also is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.
