Westport, Conn. (July 22, 2021) – FLB Law, a full-service law firm based in Westport, Connecticut, has promoted two associates – Enrico (Rick) R. Costantini and Laura A. Penney – to partner, effective July 1, 2021.
Costantini, a resident of Trumbull, focuses his legal practice on commercial and residential real estate, land use, zoning, and commercial transactions. He represents prominent developers, landlords, tenants, and lenders in transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, leases and financing. He also represents national hospitality groups, local businesses, municipalities and individuals, who require counsel related to real estate and business matters.
“Rick is an integral part of FLB Law’s Real Estate & Land Use and Corporate & Business Transactions practices,” Eric Bernheim, FLB Law’s managing partner, said. “He is a well-rounded attorney skilled at all facets of his diverse practice. He is well respected by our clients, the land use and zoning boards and the greater Fairfield County business and legal communities. His entrepreneurial spirit drives his desire to assist small- and mid-sized businesses to establish themselves and to grow from a strong foundation.”
An active member of the community, Costantini serves as the secretary of the Planning & Zoning Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and is the secretary on the Board of Directors for the Housatonic Community College Foundation. He previously served as an adjunct professor at the college and was a two-term Majority Leader and member of the Trumbull Town Council.
Costantini earned his B.A. from Rhode Island College (2004) and his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law (2009). He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York.
Penney, a resident of Stratford, is a civil and commercial litigator with a primary focus on defense, including auto and premises liability, professional liability, condominium law, contract law, insurance coverage, employment discrimination and construction defect cases. Her clients include businesses, condominium boards, insurance companies and individuals who rely on her to advocate on their behalf in matters of all sizes.
“Laura has the uncanny ability to connect with people,” Thomas Lambert, FLB Law’s managing partner, said. “Some people pretend to listen. Laura is an active listener with genuine concern for her clients. This, coupled with her competitive nature and attention to detail, are characteristics that make her an excellent litigator, trusted advisor, and partner. We are proud of her accomplishments and congratulate her on her promotion.”
Committed to giving back, Penney has provided pro bono legal services for the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center and has worked as a volunteer judge for the annual Yale Mock Trial Invitational. She has also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, the New Haven Animal Shelter, Connecticut Special Olympics and as a youth girls’ basketball coach.
Penney earned her B.A. from the University of Connecticut (2010) and her J.D. from Western New England University School of Law (2013). She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.
