FLB Law Partners Among the Honorees for the Connecticut Legal Awards
Managing Partner Thomas Lambert Selected as a Finalist for Best Mentor & Laura Penney Named to New Leaders in the Law
Westport, Conn. (April 7, 2022) – FLB Law is pleased to announce that two of its partners – Thomas P. Lambert and Laura A. Penney – have been named as honorees of the 2022 Connecticut Legal Awards, annual awards presented by the Connecticut Law Tribune.
Lambert and Penney will be among the 80-plus winners from 45 firms who will be honored in 13 categories at the awards dinner on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the Aqua Turf Club. Lambert is one of three finalists in the Best Mentor category, and Penney has been named to the 2022 class of New Leaders in the Law.
“There is something poetic about Tom being selected as a Best Mentor and one of his star mentees selected as a New Leader in the Law,” shared Eric D. Bernheim, partner at FLB Law. “It speaks to the quality of our mentoring program and the acumen of our attorneys at all levels.”
Mentoring for Lambert became a serious undertaking while serving as chair of the Associates and Partner Advancement committees of his former firm about 15 years ago. He recognized the need for a system and created one at FLB Law. The mentoring program involves selecting dedicated mentors with a particular temperament and willingness to be available to their mentees at any time, as well as setting annual milestones for the associate-mentees.
Over the past 20 years, Lambert counts at least 15 attorneys he mentored from the beginning of their careers through promotion to partner, and another 50 he materially helped advance in their careers.
Penney is a skilled civil litigator, who was promoted to partner in 2021, after less than a decade in practice. She primarily handles matters involving premises liability, auto liability, professional liability, condominium law, contract law, insurance coverage, employment discrimination, and construction defects.
